Things to consider before Stock market holidays in 2024
Consider focusing on your positions at least two days before the holidays kick in since market volatility can affect the trading position around holidays since everyone is running to square off or build positions around the holiday calendar. Remember to keep updated with your trading journal and position sizing always to make your trading life a peaceful journey.
Trading strategies that work out very well are option writing if you have a trading holiday as well as Saturdays and Sundays are around the HOLIDAY dates.
If the market is in a trend direction ie either bullish or bearish, which usually will not be around the long weekends and holidays, it is always suggested to take a break and don’t even think of taking any option writing position since the market can open up either with a huge gap up or gap down in upcoming days of weekend parties. so do avoid taking any position of option writing around holidays if it is a trending market.
Hedge your position which going for Stock market holidays
You can prefer to use a hedge position when going for a holiday i,e. in 2024 Stock market holidays or even hedging a position always keeps you safe and away from any of the unpredicted movements in the market in that way you can save your hard-earned money very well and it is very important to follow a hedging strategy whenever you take a position in the stock market.
Following are some examples of hedging in Stock market holidays
- If you have a long future position you need to protect it by a near or little far put option.
- If you have a short future position then you need to be buying a call option to make the position hedged
- If you have any option writings then you should cover it with some far or near option buying according to your risk management
